Nvidia and Samsung have invested $25 million and $10 million respectively in Skild AI, a robotics software startup, as part of a $100 million Series B funding round led by SoftBank.
This round values Skild AI at about $4.5 billion. Skild AI creates software and foundation models for a wide range of robots, from consumer devices to industrial machines.
Samsung’s investment supports its growing interest in robotics. Earlier this year, Samsung became the largest shareholder in Rainbow Robotics, a South Korean company specializing in collaborative robots. Samsung also runs a Future Robotics Office to guide innovation in this field.
For Nvidia, the investment fits its broader strategy to develop “physical AI,” which includes intelligent robots and autonomous vehicles. Nvidia recently partnered with General Motors to develop AI systems for manufacturing and robotics applications.
Skild AI plans to use the new funds to speed up the development of its advanced robotics platform. The company aims to bring AI capabilities to physical systems, a sector attracting increasing attention from global tech companies.
This funding round also includes investments from other South Korean firms like LG, Hanwha, and Mirae Asset, each contributing between $5 million and $10 million. The move marks a significant step in the growing global interest in AI-driven robotics across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and autonomous vehicles.
