Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq futures edge higher amid global uncertainty
US stock futures moved slightly higher on Wednesday as investors closely watched rising tensions in the Middle East and awaited a major decision from the Federal Reserve.
Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about 0.2%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.3%. Futures for the Nasdaq 100, which includes major tech companies, also increased by 0.3%. These moves came after a day of losses for all three indexes.
Markets remain tense due to the growing conflict between Israel and Iran. The uncertainty grew after President Trump said the US is losing patience and held a meeting with his national security team on Tuesday. This has led to speculation that the US may support Israel’s offensive. Reports suggest that Iran is preparing missiles and could target US military bases in the region if the US becomes directly involved.
While geopolitical tensions grow, investors are also focused on the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting. The Fed is expected to keep interest rates unchanged, but market watchers are looking for clues about future changes. In particular, attention is on the Fed’s “dot plot,” which shows how many rate cuts may be expected later this year.
Chair Jerome Powell is set to speak at a press conference following the announcement. Investors will be listening for any signs of concern over the US economy, especially as trade tensions and tariffs continue to create uncertainty.
